MOD Monday (Tuesday edition)

Ever since I started working again, I have fallen behind on so many things - this blog being one of them. So here is my March of Dimes Monday - the Tuesday Edition (I'm sure this will be the first of may Tuesday Editions)
Today boys and girls - instead of giving you scary statistics and sad stories, I'm going to ask for your help. Now that the weather is nice, and spring fever is in the air, I am asking you to junk out your house and donate your items to my friend Breann and I. We both are heading up fundraisers in April. (Hers is for Cystic Fibrosis). Anyways - we are going to throw a yard sale and split any money raised for our teams. I need to find a calendar and set a date, but any items you are willing to part with, would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to drive to your location and retrieve them. Just send me a little note on here, or email me at armywife1cav@yahoo.com
THANKS!!!

Elle's Baptism

So, I guess I should get my fanny in gear and post the pictures from Elle's baptism.
This is the curly hair she wanted before she got baptized. (To be honest, she looks different all dressed up and fancy looking)

Aaron and her sick of me taking so many pictures of them

The cool straight hair after she got dunked.
I still can't believe that I have an 8 year old. It makes me feel old. She has been such a great helper around the house, especially with Tiffany. Tiffany loves her. When ever she sees her, she squeals and starts kicking. It really is cute.

MOD Monday

Today more than 1,400 babies in the U.S. will be born prematurely. Many will be too small and too sick to go home. Instead, they face weeks or even months in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). These babies face an increased risk of serious medical complications and death; however, most, eventually, will go home. But what does the future hold for these babies? Many survivors grow up healthy; others aren’t so lucky. Even the best of care cannot always spare a premature baby from lasting disabilities such as cerebral palsy, mental retardation and learning problems, chronic lung disease, and vision and hearing problems. Half of all neurological disabilities in children are related to premature birth.Although doctors have made tremendous advances in caring for babies born too small and too soon, we need to find out how to prevent these tragedies from happening in the first place. Despite decades of research, scientists have not yet developed effective ways to help prevent premature delivery. In fact, the rate of premature birth increased almost 35 percent between 1981 and 2005 (9.4 to 12.7 percent).
Please help us by donating to Team Tiffany. Even if it's just $5.oo - any and everything helps!!!!

Big Day

So, I'm posting this with like 8 minutes left in today (Feb. 8th). Today is a really important day for us -

Okay, yeah it's the one year anniversary of Anna Nicole's death, and as important as that is, that's not the reason.

Eight years ago today I had Elle. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I can't believe my little girl is eight years old. Freak out!!

(1 year pic)

She has grown so much over the years. Every day I notice how much more she is turning into a young lady, and before I know it, she will be in young womens, then dating, then off to college, and then having babies of her own (after marriage of course).

There are so many reasons why I love her so much, but here are a few reasons why she makes me laugh.
1. She is a total Tomboy. She will have nothing to do with pink or barbies, and if you want to make her mad, just mention anything that has to deal with curling her hair, or putting on makeup. She is getting baptized tomorrow, and after some wheeling and dealing, I was able to buy her a pretty white dress. After she put it on and did a few twirls in the store, she came over to me and told me that she would like her hair curled for her baptism. My heart swelled with joy that I was having a mother daughter moment, and then she said "It's going to go straight after it gets wet, and that would be totally cool. Curly and then straight." My moment was out the door.

On the same theme of Tomboy - she love the Ninja Turtles. All things revolve around TMNT. She eats, breathes, tastes lives and always involves Ninja Turtles. She can tell you each episode and let you know any and everything about them. It's kinda cool. The best part is that I remember the theme song from my youth - so I'm a pretty awesome mom who can sing the whole thing.

2. She is super creative. She loves to be involved with school activities and summer activities. She love to dress up and pretend. She loves to make cards and paper airplanes with little notes on them that tell you that she loves you and that you are the best person in the world. She likes to be everyone's friend and tries really hard to make friends. Sometimes it's hard, but she's getting better.

3. She is the best big sister. She is such a wonderful helper. She does what I ask her to (most of the time) and she really likes to help out around the house. She loves to do the laundry and the dishes. (If only I could get her to love the toilets - I would be home free). She loves to read, and she will spend time after school reading to Ashlee. Its those tender moments that I remember why I had kids.
4. She is her father's daughter. Besides loving TMNT, she loves computer and video games - and she is really good at them. She can kick you butt playing Halo or Ghost Recon any ole day. She loves watching this show call Raw Play and learning all the secret moves so she can beat everyone else. She looks like Aaron, and truly is the son he'll never have.

I could go on and on about how wonderful she is, but I guess I should get back to cleaning the house for her baptism tomorrow. I promise I'll post pictures of that fun event, even the before curly hair picture, and the after straight picture.

March of Dimes Monday

SO - I have decided that every Monday until April 19th, I am going to post something about the March of Dimes. I hope that this will bring awareness (or annoyance), and people will donate to our team.

I've decided to start out by sharing my story. I was 29 weeks prego and I was having a really tough pregnancy. It was begining to get hotter outside and I was begining to swell up. My doctor wasn't worried at first, just for the fact that women during the summer swell a little more. My feet and hands and face were very swollen, but I just kept telling myself it was because of the Arizona heat.

I was at work, and it was the end of the day. I was getting ready to leave when one of my co-workers informed me that I was fat. Thinking that he was joking - I told him that I was pregnant, not fat. He then told me that I looked like I had gained 20 pounds over the course of the day, and that he was worried about me. I told him I would call my doctor and go get checked out. When I got up, I couldn't straighten my knees, they were extremely swollen. I got really concerned and called my husband. He met me at my parents and he and my brother gave me a blessing.

Still not sure what was going to happen, I then drove myself to the hospital to get checked out. I was there about 30 minutes when they informed me that I was really sick, my kidneys were no longer working, and they were going to airevac me over to St. Joes Hospital in Phoenix. I then paniced. 15 minutes later I was in the helicopter and terrified.

The next morning, I was told that my all attempts to get my kidneys to start working had failed and that they needed to take the baby. On May 30, 2007 Tiffany was born weighing an amazing 2lbs 12oz. She was 14inches long and a total fighter.

We were able to bring her home from the hospital after 6 weeks, and were very thankful for the support our whole family was given by everyone, including the March of Dimes.

I am in need of corporate sponsors, especially one who would like to help fund team t-shirts. Please let me know if you or your company would like to help.
