Fun Weekend

The Grand kids. (Guess who is the favorite and oldest of the bunch?)

I ask the question again - so why do we live in the valley of the sun? After visiting Eagar this weekend for my Hunt Family Reunion, Aaron and I decided that our goal is to live there within the next 18 months. We love the scenery, weather, and people every time we visit.

Okay - Reunion Time.

My mother is the oldest of 10 children, and every 5 years my grandma, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gather for our Hunt Reunion. It is a blast. We begin planning the next one, while the current one is still going on. I could write a whole novel about my crazy, and I emphasize the work CRAZY family, however, I will spare you and give you the key events.

We went to the parade, and watched your basic small town parade. The highlight was the military choppers flying overhead twice and being so low that you could see the pilots waving at us. Good thing they didn't drop candy - ouch!

We went horse back riding, quad riding, and hiking. It was great to be back up on a horse. How I miss it. My kids loved it too. Aaron and the girls took a liking to the quads and rode them at every chance. Elle hiked with my father and other family members up to Peg Leg's Cave. It was fun. The hike wasn't too bad, it was getting to the cave that was hard. The ground was soft, and you had to walk beside the mountain real close. This wouldn't be an issue, except that the rocks would come out when you held them to keep from falling. Needless to say, Elle went into the cave and loved it!!

We had a "battle of the bands" where each family performed. Our family one - hurray. We made instruments out of PVC pipes and had glow sticks, and pretended to be the Blue Man Group. The best part is when we shouted "More Cowbell" and Julia's hubby came out tight shirt and all and did the cowbell. It was great. I will have Aaron upload this video.

The girls had a blast with all the cousins. They chased each other, they bounced on the trampoline, they did crafts, they played in the little stream, swam, and they just were kids. It was so nice to see them have fun and be kids.

We had those amazing afternoon thundershowers that just cleaned the air and brought the temperature down. Ahhh - it was so refreshing, we didn't want to leave. So hopefully, in 18 months, I will be posting pictures of my new home in Eagar, Arizona!!

P.S. We got our A/C fixed the next day - THANK YOU BRO. PEAVLER!!!

That was a great trip you had. It's so fun to get together with all of the family. The heat was a big factor of us moving. We just needed a break. If you move you will love it. It is amazing to step outside at night and it's actually cool outside!

ok, elle in the front row of the picture doing the rock on sign with her tongue sticking out is classic. i wish i knew who everyone was, but sadly i could only recognize a few people. it sounds like the reunion was a blast.
it would be fun to live in eager, but wouldn't you miss your mom? or would being close to other family members make up for it?
